Dr Fiona ARMSTRONG GIBBS is an Associate Professor in Entreprise and Inclusive Growth at LJMU and co-funder of Baltic Creative Community Interest Company. She combines her pratice and research to explore how social enterprises and community owned business models are a catalyst for business growth, better ecosystems and contribute to sustainable local and regional economies.

This talk will explore how communities can lead change rather than be passive recipients and explore the core principles form empowering communities - Agency & Ownership, Leadership and Social innovation.
Sharing two case studies from Baltic Creative CIC (Liverpool) and Riba D'Ave (Portugal) the talk highlight key lessons in trust building, safeguarding space innovation, partnerships and care in leaderships. The findings relate to UNSDGs 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities & 17 Partnerships for the Goals.
